Slap Happy

Description

Begin with easy climbing for several bolts. At mid-height, you are at the obvious slabby, smeary crux. On the left side of the bolts at the crux, the route climbs at ~11a. On the right side it feels a bit harder with slapping for slopers (hence the name) and is probably the reason it is rated 11c in the guide. It’s just a sport climb, so either way works. Short but sweet.

Location

The easiest way to approach Slap Happy is to hike up to Junior Olympic Wall, make a hard right just before it and step up onto a small bench, which is the farthest left side of Thindependence Wall. You can belay here (recommended) or move up and left of the route near the first bolt. You can see the route from the trail when you are below it.

Protection

Six bolts to the anchors.
