Damsel In Distress

FA Lara Wilkinson & Scott Ayers (2000)

Description

Immediately pull strenuous moves to surmount the small cave and establish on the face. Gingerly face climb up moderate terrain to reach the high second bolt. Continue climbing through sparse terrain and then an explosion of various sized knobs to reach the chains.

Damsel In Distress appears to be an afterthought of a route. It was added seven years after the majority of the routes at the Ravelin and, in contrast to the other routes at the crag, the bolting is a bit sparse. In particular the distance between the first two bolts places the climber within ground fall territory. An error on this 5.8 terrain would be ugly.

Location

Damsel In Distress is located on the far left side of the crag. It starts to the left of a corner; below the start is a small tunnel. Isolated from the other routes, Damsel in Distress is on the right; Dudley Do Right is on the left.

Protection

4 bolts to anchors. I believe the anchors are shared with Dudley Do Right.
