Clam Chowder

Description

Though technically not part of the Sunny Spot area, this problem is within spittin' range just to the left of it.

Get into the shady alcove and start with both of your hands in a jug hole. Get your feet on the not-so-amazing rock below, and make a big dynamic move with your right hand to a jug hole on the other side of the boulder bulge. Reposition your feet, match your hands, then move your left-hand up to a pointed ledge directly above you. Top out by going through the notch between the two boulders up and to your left.

Location

This problem is just to the left of the

Sunshine Traverse

that starts at the base of a little alcove.

Follow a trail to the upper area and past the first area with near vertical sandstone walls, and continue past a large cedar tree you have to duck to get past with a small cave to your right. Go about 20 feet further until you reach a good opening to your right with a small alcove formed by a boulder that leans against a 20 foot sandstone wall. If you are at the correct area, you will note a leaning finger crack to the right of the problem.

Protection

A crashpad.
