- Edit (TBD)
Description
This is a short, easy, and unintimidating slab that would be a good "adventure" sport lead for a first-timer with good protection. This is a trivial climb for anyone with experience and was primarily installed as practice for bolting on lead. Start up easy, blocky terrain clipping 2 bolts until moving left up the slabs past 2 more bolts, and scramble up to the belay ledge above. This can be combined with
Small Game
for a fun long pitch, or you can sling a large boulder near the base of
Small Game
for an anchor and walk off.
Location
This is kind of a pain to get to and requires a short bushwhack through the dense aspen grove along the base, while weaving over and under deadfall and boulders (adding some adventure to the climb so be sure to have your new leaders route finding this as well). Start at the base of the slab about 65' below
Small Game
. Look for a bolt above a blocky, right-facing corner in a small belay clearing near the base.
Protection
4 bolts and webbing to sling a large boulder for an anchor. It is possible to link to
Small Game
continuing through 4 more bolts to the anchor; however, this hasn't been done yet, so appropriate rope length for the link-up is TBD.
