Barrel Rider

One of the world’s better boulder problems and an amazing Front Range testpiece, Barrel Rider is a singular line out the overhang of the huge Blue Whale/South Paw Boulder.

Begin sitting on the lowest opposing edges at the bottom of the large overhang. Climb out the roof and left to a good slot, then execute a big, hard, and low percentage jump/deadpoint to a bullet sloper. Traverse across the lip on perfect slopers with minimal feet to finish on the classic

Blue Whale

(V7/8), making for a long, power endurance based finish.

The rock on this climb is perfect. The moves are phenomenal and fun. The style is skin friendly and thuggy. The landing is flat. This boulder is perfect.

It is on the Blue Whale Boulder off the Eldorado Canyon Trail. Begin sitting on the left side of the boulder’s massive overhang. Climb left then right out the obvious feature.

A good number of pads. The landing is good, but the climb covers some ground.
