Ascent to the Bottom of the Sea

FA Kalakay, Tim Rogge (1988)

Description

Good face climbing up an obvious black streak on pockets and sidepulls. Start is chossy and has a variation or two, but the direct start is best.

Location

Just uphill and to the right of the Sistine Chapel, or else just downhill and left of the primary mass of the huge Powerline Buttress. Kind of hard to find. You can see it from the road but it follows a prominent and obvious black streak following an overhanging chossy start on the small formation just uphill of the Chapel.

Protection

Bolts (5) to chains

STICK CLIP the first bolt. It's about 20+ feet up, not trivial to clip, and involves a hard pull off a small edge to clip.
