Description

It gets you thinking!

Pitch #1: Climb up a thin slab with excellent granite to the first roof and onto the second roof which has some puzzling moves. Very interesting puzzle solving skills are helpful to surmount these roofs. 5.10a, 25m.

This is a joy of a crossword puzzle climb. I can hardly wait to go do it again!!

Location

If the Puzzle was closer to the road, this thing would get climbed everyday. But, for the incomparable views of Hogum Fork and the unique climbing, the length of the approach (expect 30 minutes) might be worth it!

For the best access to Cross Words, climb the first pitch of Conundrum and traverse right on a loose, but easy low angle ledge 15m to the south. A two bolt belay station for belaying/climbing the route has been installed.

Rapping from the start is quite loose and less recommended....better to rappel via Conundrum rappels, but both ways are OK with one 70m rope or two ropes

Protection

QDs for 7 bolts to a two-bolt glue-in anchor.
